A Heartfelt Note 💕

DEAR FRIENDS,

A few announcements today, one rather significant (and emotional at least for me) — and I’ll expand on each of them but since this is a long letter, here’s a quick summary first:

1. After nearly 17 years in this beautiful fiber arts world, I’ve decided to close my business at the end of January 2026. Deep breaths. I’m happy to chat more about this in our Discord group if you’ve got questions after reading.

2. I would love for you to join me for my final gathering — Stitch & Beach — which still has a few slots left.

3. Boutique Update: Thread & Maple products are now available. New kits are coming soon (fab discounts!) & 100+ samples are being added to my Sample Sale.

It’s hard to even find the words.

This work that I love — designing knitting patterns, writing books, teaching, curating the boutique, hosting BINGO, and more recently, retreats — has been the rhythm of my life for so long. It has shaped me in ways I never could have imagined.

What began as a love for yarn and creativity turned into a community overflowing with friendship and joy. I’ve met so many incredible makers over the years — each of you has been a stitch or several or even a full FO! in the fabric of my life. Your support and trust have carried me through seasons of inspiration and change.

Perhaps because of the longevity, diversification, and productivity of my business, it might appear financially viable. Unfortunately, that’s never really been the case. I’ve done everything I could think of to make it sustainable, but it’s time for me to call it.

Please know that this is not a sudden decision. After dropping Jesse (my oldest) off for his freshman year of college, it truly hit me that my time is better spent soaking in the last years of having my children at home. I’ve been sitting on this choice ever since — making sure it was truly the right step for me at this time and despite the gut-wrench, I haven’t wavered.

I can’t tell you how much I would appreciate your support during these final months — especially by joining the retreat & shopping from the boutique. (I’m fairly certain my friends and family will get tired of me gifting them boutique treasures before long — especially since most of them aren’t knitters!)

My medical conditions have continued to increase and, with that, they’ve become more time-consuming and costly. My family has always been my top priority, and there simply isn’t time to do it all — especially when the work is not profitable, no matter how much I love it.

I am considering hosting a final BINGO in January — I’ll make that decision very soon based on interest from knitters. If you’d want to be part of it, please let me know! This BINGO would feature only my own designs (as always, no patterns that have ever been part of a past event). This finale BINGO would also include an optional add-on: special merch to celebrate TT/KO for those who sign up by a certain date.

Who knows what the future will bring — but for now, this is truly the end of an era for me. Even so, I’ll be working hard until the end. Here’s a peek at some of what’s coming up soon.

Despite my upcoming departure, my final retreat will be a celebration of everything we’ve created together — a gathering by the ocean, surrounded by yarn, laughter, and love. All the details are on my website, and registration will close on December 15. You can also read retreat reviews to help you make your decision. Vermont was incredible and I will definitely be sharing about our experience in the upcoming weeks.

Now through December 15: nothing will change — in fact, I have a 4-piece collection and a truly unique Magnum-Opus-style design coming your way soon as well as a Matrix Makeover! I’ll also be having a massive sample sale and getting pieces listed as quickly as possible.

December 15 – January 31, 2026: I’ll begin running sales on remaining in-stock products.

End of day, January 31, 2026: all facets of my business will close, with only two automated exceptions — my patterns and online workshops will remain available, though there will no longer be pattern support.

Mid-February: I’ll quietly publish the 2026 Stitch & Beach Retreat patterns, and by the end of the month, my final official release will bring everything full circle — a makeover of my very first KO pattern, Dyad, featuring Magpie Fibers, just a different base than the original.

I’ve saved a happy for last! Well before making this huge decision, I was so thrilled to become a Thread & Maple stockist. Between college prep, work travel, and hosting my retreat in Vermont, it took me far too long to get their fabulous products online. But they’re finally all up! There’s plenty in stock that will ship directly from me to you, and truly, there’s nothing they design that isn’t a perfect blend of beauty and function. Also, before my Stitchin’ Vermont, I put together loads of new kits — those will be up very soon and even from the start, they will be priced at a significant discount were you to add up the included products.

I’ve also started going through alllll my handknits — despite my love for each and every one of them, some were modeled by others and don’t fit me quite right, or simply don’t get worn because of my climate. These items will be added to my Sample Sale section ASAP, along with Tot Toppers pieces that weren’t worn by my children. I’ll be sure to let you know when everything is up, and I’d be so grateful if you’d share them with your friends even If they aren’t makers.

Thank you — from the bottom of my heart — for supporting me, believing in me, and walking alongside me all these years. Every class, every design, every conversation, kind comment, and email has meant more than I can ever express.

Writing this has been so hard.

I intended to make this announcement almost 2 weeks ago but despite my confidence in knowing this is the right choice, it was a huge struggle to make this announcement and thus, make the decision truly real.
