is idyllic in a South Carolina midwinter

This retreat is timed during the short annual span in which knitting on the beach is truly enjoyable here in the South. Temps are cool enough that our hands can create without getting sticky but not so cold that fingers freeze up. Whether you’re curled up knitting in one of the dozens of cozy chairs inside our getaway home, stationed at the pool or on the beach right in your backyard, your view will be spectacular. If you’re anything like me, watching those waves crash into the sand is inexplicably relaxing. When I think about my favorite things to do, both knitting & being on the beach land near—if not at—the top of my list. This year, I created a list of amazing luxury beachfront homes so that once registration gets going, I can select the one that suits the number of guests coming. In the registration listing, you’ll see images from the largest home on my list, but don’t worry, each home is equally wonderful. No matter which one we end up at, I have no doubt that it’ll be just the right fit.

This retreat is intended to bring you balance and spoil you rotten to eradicate any winter blues. That’s why I’m so dedicated to finding the ideal set-up to enhance our stay. If you decide to put your needles down during the retreat, you’ll love being able to walk out the back door straight to the coastline, chat near the pool or explore the area without the heat that blankets much of the state for 8+ months each year.

all the house options

Since we aren’t 100% sure which home we’ll stay in, I wanted to share the features I looked for that a house had to include to make my list. Every home on the list will enhance our experience. As I noted on the registration page, I am VERY picky, especially when it comes to a retreat home. No matter which house we end up at you can be confident that:

it’s beachfront
it’s updated & luxurious
the space gives calming vibes
it features multiple “cozy” knitting spots with space for our entire group
the dining area has space for everyone to sit at a table
there are washing machines & dryers; larger homes also have 2 refrigerators
the kitchen is both gorgeous & super-functional for our Chef
porches & balconies with seating are everywhere
it has as many Single Rooms as possible and even if a room has more than 2 beds, I’m not opening up more than 2 slots—only Singles & Doubles are available
almost all rooms have en suite baths; if not en suite, your bathroom is either right next to or across from your room or, is a Jack & Jill with one other room
I’m sure there are more things to note and if I think of them, I’ll come back and update my list!

We will spend our 4 nights together nestled into an updated oceanfront home with no rooms hosting more than two guests. My vision for all my retreats is the same: to curate an inclusive community vibe with room for all of our exceptional personalities. Whether you are energized by solitude or companionship, you’ll find its place here.

There’s something about shared spaces in a home that allows relationships to form and flourish, but whether it’s your own room or one of the multiple spaces I made sure each house has, you will easily find a private nook anytime you’d like.

Should you wish to share a bed with a friend in one of the single rooms, reach out to me after registration for pricing. This option won’t be available unless the retreat is sold out.

registration fees

You’ll find details & pricing for each room & bed style along with sample images below. The sample images are from the home I’ve used for registration, but all homes have similar features and space in the bedrooms. I refuse to disappoint! Read more about registration details and how things will translate to a different home here, but keep in mind that if you want a Single, book fast. If we stay in a smaller home, that generally means fewer Singles will be available. I will use your registration timestamp to prioritize assigning Singles & room features.

All fees are for a single guest. Should the retreat sell out, you have secured a Single room and you wish to share your bed with another guest, contact me for pricing. The rate will be discounted, but fixed per person costs like our meals and experiences won’t change.

Next to each image, I’ve indicated it’s features: whether it is Single or Double, shows balcony access or ocean views and the registration fee(s). I’ve also listed fees for additional room styles should we move houses. You’ll receive a refund if you register for a room with features you didn’t end up with and of course, if you choose to move from a Single to a Double.
